Ways to make an impact

Give Zakat & Sadaqah Locally

When you give locally, you support the people you pray Jummah with, the children who go to school with your kids, and your own neighbours. While many give to causes abroad, no one from abroad is giving here – caring for our community is up to us. We encourage you to continue giving where your heart leads you, but please consider setting something aside for those right here at home. You can learn more about our Zakat policy here.

Pay Zakat-ul-Fitr & Fidya

Zakat-ul-Fitr is a required charity for Ramadan, equivalent to 2.2 litres of staple foods like rice, calculated using Alberta’s Retail Food Prices. This year, the amount is $14.13 per person.

Fidya is the expiation for not fasting, equivalent to the financial cost of a day’s food based on Alberta’s Nutritious Food Basket. This year, the amount is $16.68 per day.

More on the calculation for both amounts can be found here.

Attend our Gathering for Edmonton Iftar

We invite you to join us on March 16th at the ARCA Banquet Hall for "A Gathering for Edmonton: Impact that Stays Close to Home", a Ramadan Iftar. Hear inspiring stories, learn how you can make a difference, and share a heartfelt Iftar. Let’s break bread and strengthen the bonds that unite us as neighbours and community members.

Automate Your Giving During the Last 10 Nights

We understand the significance of giving during Ramadan, and especially during the last 10 nights. Starting on Thursday, March 20th, you can automate your giving for the remaining 10 days of Ramadan for a recurring donation to occur every day until March 30th.
